MacArthur Foundation Commits $50 Million to Digital Learning Initiatives
“The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation said it is committing $50 million to fund digital learning initiatives over five years to understand how young people are affected by digital media, such as games and virtual worlds, and how they can be educated by them.”

Blackboard teams up with Google

Blackboard is teaming up with Google to integrate a Google Scholar search interface into the learning management system. Although this step may make finding some resources easier, librarians are all too aware of the limitations of Google Scholar. All the more reason to actively educate students and faculty about the pros and cons of Google Scholar and options for the most effective research methods.
